“We had hoped to continue to break records last year, and we did – the WSOP Main Event was bigger than ever,” said Ty Stewart, Chief Executive Officer of WSOP. “In 2025, the WSOP schedule is better again, with something for everyone who loves the game. There’s nothing like summer in Las Vegas and we’re ready to welcome players to the biggest and best WSOP of all time!”
A total of 100 gold WSOP bracelets will be up for grabs across the 2025 WSOP festival.
In August 2024 Caesars Entertainment sold the World Series of Poker brand to NSUS Group Inc (owners of GGPoker) for $500 million. Despite the sale, Caesars will continue to host the WSOP summer series on the Las Vegas Strip for the following 20 years, and the company retains the rights to use the WSOP brand for its physical and online poker operations.
New Rules for “fair play” at the 2025 WSOP
Several tweaks to the WSOP rule book have been made for this year’s series:
- Restricting electronic-assistance and coaching: Players and spectators are prohibited from using charts (eg pushbot or GTO charts), apps (e.g poker solvers like GTOWiz), or any form of electronic assistance in the tournament room.
- Players are no longer allowed to place electronic devices on the poker table or table rail.
- Once the tournament field is reduced to 3 tables, the use of electronic devices by players is strictly prohibited.
- Spectators on the rail are not allowed to watch live feature table or final table streams on their devices.
Why have these changes been made
The 2024 main event win was overshadowed by controversy regarding the winner’s continued consultation with players on the rail between hands, one of whom was observed using a laptop, leading to suspicions that he was running poker solvers to provide Tamayo with strategic advice between hands. Finishing first out of 10,112 players Tamayo banked $10,000,000 for his WSOP Main Event run.
Satellites & Online Pre-Registration
Similar to years past, players will be able to qualify for the WSOP Main Event via live and online satellite tournaments.
Online pre-registration will open after all events have been determined and approved by relevant state regulators.
Reduced room rates will be available across Caesars Entertainment’s Las Vegas resorts for the series. To access them, visit www.caesars.com, select a date between May 26 and July 16, 2025, and use promo code WSOP25.
